Bridge The Gap Sped is committed to serving public schools, charter schools and private schools, providing them with exceptional therapists, counselors, behavioral interventionists, and instructional assistants who work within their special education teams upholding our company values of passion for our work, integrity, and reliability.
Bridge the gap sped provides access to experienced, professional support staff with the flexibility of long and short-term service commitments. We also provide Independent assessments/IEE's, compensatory services and ESY services.

Bridge The Gap SpEd is therapist owned, so we truly understand how special education teams work and their unique needs for services. We place providers in roles that use their skill sets most effectively and appropriately for the specific school settings.
We also strive to stay a small company so as to be able to provide responsive and tailored service to each client and the most qualified providers in the industry.
Monique Somers has practiced and supervised as an Occupational Therapist in the traditional public and charter school systems for 26 years. She has significant experience in assessment and treatment of deficits in the areas of fine motor skills, visual motor and visual perceptual skills, bilateral motor coordination, motor planning, sensory regulation/sensory motor delays, dyslexia, dysgraphia/handwriting challenges, and executive functioning deficits. She has evaluated and tailored intervention strategies for children with Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, Developmental Delay, Visual Processing disorders, physical disabilities, and many other deficits that affect a student’s ability to effectively participate in the educational process.
Monique started Bridge The Gap SpEd in 2019 after seeing a growing need for special education providers in the schools. Therapists, special education teachers, counselors, and support staff were being spread too thin to provide effective services for all of the students on their caseloads. An increasing number of students were and still are being identified as having developmental delays, learning disabilities, and notable challenges with self-regulation that impact them in their educational environment. The identification of these learning differences and sensory or behavioral challenges has been helpful in meeting students’ specific educational needs, but there is a lack of staff to support the growing need for skilled providers.
Monique decided to bring her experience, communication, and leadership skills together to build a company in which she identifies other skilled special educational providers who have the ability to communicate effectively with other team members and effectively carry out their unique roles in the lives of the students they work with. She currently places Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, School Psychologists, Special Education Teachers, COTA’s, SLPA’s, BCBA’s, RBT’s, Behavioral Assistants, and Instructional Assistants in positions both in-person and online throughout the state of California.

Bridge The Gap (BTG) works with charter schools, public and private schools, and other educational institutions to provide access to in-demand support staff and flexible long and short-term services. We save schools time and money by hiring, training, and contracting a wide array of certificated staff to assist students with various disabilities. We provide Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, School Counseling, School Psychologist Services, Behavior Intervention (Behavior Specialists and Behavioral Aides).

Bridge the Gap Sped (BTG) is a team of educators and therapists with a wealth of hands-on experience and a deeply held desire to bridge the growing resource gap between schools and the populations they serve. Our network of tutors and credentialed therapists and teachers is available to districts, charter schools, private schools, and individuals locally in-person (adhering to strict health and safety precautions) as well as virtually. Our team members provide comprehensive and tailored services to students and their families. Accountability and data-driven outcomes are first and foremost for our providers.

Bridge the Gap Sped is a Non-Public Agency with the intent of creating, promoting, and supporting a seamless relationship between special needs students, specialized service providers, school staff, and parents. Bridge the Gap Sped is a team of multidisciplinary, certified, licensed and well-trained therapists, teachers, mental health, and behavioral health professionals, as well as behavioral and instructional assistants, who support students with special needs in the educational setting.
