Speech Language Pathologist Assistant

The school-based Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide direct therapy services to students with a range of speech and language needs. The SLPA will carry out treatment plans developed by the SLP, support the documentation of student progress, and assist with the preparation of therapy materials and reports.

The SLPA will provide services to students individually and in small groups, addressing delays and challenges in articulation, expressive and receptive language, phonology, fluency, voice, literacy, and social pragmatics. The SLPA may also assist students and staff in the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and strategies.

Speech Language Pathologist Assistant will:

  • Provides direct speech-language therapy as outlined in student treatment plans

  • Works individually or in small group settings to address communication needs

  • Assists with the preparation of materials and the organization of therapy sessions

  • Documents student performance and progress toward IEP goals

  • Report student responses and concerns to the supervising SLP

  • Supports students with articulation, language expression, fluency, literacy, and pragmatic language development

  • Assists in implementing strategies for students with Autism, hearing difficulties, and other developmental disabilities

  • Provides instruction on AAC device usage to students and staff as directed

  • Helps maintain therapy records and prepares progress documentation

  • Applies evidence-based techniques to maintain student engagement and communication success

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the SLP
