Speech and Language Services

The school-based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide assessment, treatment, and consultative services for students with a wide range of speech, language, and communication needs. The SLP is responsible for completing screenings and comprehensive assessments, documenting findings, and participating in the IEP process by presenting results and recommendations. The SLP will implement therapy sessions targeting students’ individualized communication goals, using a variety of evidence-based techniques. The SLP works with students individually and in small groups to address areas such as articulation, expressive and receptive language, fluency, phonology, voice, literacy, and social pragmatics. The SLP will collaborate with educators, families, and other service providers to support student success in both academic and social settings.

The school-based Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide direct therapy services to students with a range of speech and language needs. The SLPA will carry out treatment plans developed by the SLP, support the documentation of student progress, and assist with the preparation of therapy materials and reports. The SLPA will provide services to students individually and in small groups, addressing delays and challenges in articulation, expressive and receptive language, phonology, fluency, voice, literacy, and social pragmatics. The SLPA may also assist students and staff in using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and strategies.
